Vini’s journey into Yoga started many years ago. As a young boy, he practised daily as part of his school routine merely as a form of exercise where there was no form of any spiritual intent.

As a young adult, he began to work a very busy schedule for a large Japanese corporate company which resulted in an extremely hectic lifestyle. It was at this point where he started to discover the true form of Yoga. His daily practice enabled him to find not only the relaxing power of his action but also developed the true consciousness inside of him.

This consciousness inside of him rapidly developed into challenging questions about his life, about the way of living and about himself. He felt that his true self and soul were hidden somewhere. This curiosity encouraged him to leave his busy job, hectic lifestyle and return to India, his motherland. He began a spiritual journey around India meeting with sincere people, sharing thoughts about life and serving the community. This newfound energy gave him the power to begin a new chapter in his life.

He travelled to Rishikesh, Northern India, where he sought out potential locations for a Yoga Shala. The perfect location was sought at the foothills of the Ganges in Laxmanjhula, the tranquil setting was perfect for finding inner balance and silence. After much hard work and help from friends and family, he succeeded in his dream and opened his own Yoga Shala, known today as Yoga Vini Welfare Society. Situated below the famous Trivambkhula Temple Yoga Vini is the perfect host for those wanting to deepen their practice through higher spiritual awareness.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a complete beginner to yoga or an ever-evolving instructor with a minimum of ten years of asana practice under your belt – there is no doubt Mittra will be able to bring an enhancement to your personal practice, and importantly you’ll have fun in the process.

Trained at Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana and Sivananda in Kerala, Mittra returned to Rishikesh after several years of working abroad to follow his dreams and unit forces with his brother in Yoga Vini. They both wanted to provide students with the highest standard of teaching with unparalleled passion in every element of practice from asanas and pranayamas to meditation.

Mittra’s classes are all based on traditional Hatha Yoga with a strong focus on proper body alignment, controlled breath, and prioritising movement in ways that are healthy and safe. Mittra takes great pride in helping each and every student with hands-on adjustments in class and provides numerous modifications for different asanas tailored to the specific needs of his pupils. If he can’t help you in the class, rest assured you will have his undivided attention and guidance if you ask for it after class.

And that’s what really set Mittra apart as a teacher – his heart and dedication, to you, your journey, and your personal practice. It’s also what has students lining outside the door to try and get a spot!

Mittra brings an unmatched level of heart and soul into every class. He provides his students with the tools and inspiration to enhance their own practice and grow and flourish with self-love. He does all this, with an unequivocal skill of bringing playfulness back into your practice. With Mittra, you are guaranteed to learn, grow, and laugh.
