What is Yogalates?
As the name indicates, yogalates is a mixture of yoga and pilates combined into one class style. This practice, depending on the studio and teacher can variate between heated or not heated spaces. Its purpose is to get the benefits of yoga and the benefits of pilates working together for the effective physical and spiritual practice.
It was created in 1997 by a personal trainer, Jonathan Urla, and later developed and popularized by Louise Solomon. It is described as an evolving method, which is constantly seeing inspiration in origins of yoga and pilates but making it personalised for the western world.
