Course description

Who can join? Anyone who has a passion for Yoga, wishes to do an in-depth study of Asanas and Pranayama, Meditation and Yoga philosophy or would like to share the benefits of this practice with others should feel free to apply for this course. If you have been practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary Series for at least 3 months, it’s an added advantage. But also if you have no or little experience in Ashtanga Vinyasa this course will be suitable for you. What to expect The objective of the TTC Course is to provide beginners and experienced Yoga students with strong technical and theoretical experience. This will enable them to perform Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Primary Series with perfection and correct alignment. The course will equip the future teachers to be completely autonomous and ready to run their own yoga classes at the highest standards. At the yoga TTC at Abhinam Yoga, students learn a unique combination of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Iyengar alignment principles. This approach has an ultimate goal of practicing injury free yoga. Every morning, students start the day with pranayama class, which is focused on different breathing techniques. This practice gives a good foundation for the ashtanga vinyasa flow class. In the beginning of the TTC, the ashtanga vinyasa class is lead by senior teachers, later students do their own self practice, i.e. mysore style. The subject of classes in the middle of the day changes every week; going from yoga philosophy to anatomy and physiology. On top of that, students can also have marketing classes on request, during which they get tips on how to promote themselves as yoga teachers and how to do marketing for their future yoga centers. The afternoon program starts every day with the teaching methodology. Students learn all postures in detail not only to enhance their own practice but most importantly to help others, their future students, to get into and be correctly aligned in each and every pose. During the afternoon yoga classes, students get introduced to other yoga styles, i.e. yin yoga, hatha yoga or restorative yoga. The day is concluded with an evening meditation. From the second week of the TTC, students actively participate in teaching as well as adjusting others during the classes. This gives students and future yoga teachers the best opportunity to learn how to teach in a very supportive, open and safe environment. After finishing 200 hours Yoga TTC at Abhinam Yoga, students are trained as well as confident enough to act as yoga teachers and lead yoga lessons. Course syllabus Abhinam Yoga follows the syllabus set by Yoga Alliance US and UK for Registered Yoga School (RYS 200) and incorporates training hours in the following modules: Techniques, training, and practice Learning to master and teach Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series Theory and practice of mantras, kriyas, pranayamas, and various techniques of meditation Asana practice is focused on developing the quality of body alignment, observation and sharpening awareness of deeper physiological processes while performing an asana. Teaching methodology Learning the art of alignment and hand on adjustment with the help of props Workshops on demonstration of asanas, Restorative yoga, yoga for specific groups of people and yoga to deal with common ailments like joints pain, back pain, thyroid, diabetes, etc. Qualities and conduct of a teacher while leading a class Business skills - how to promote your yoga business in the world of web marketing Conducting Vinyasa flow led classes with a touch of personal creativity Anatomy and physiology Learning about the musculoskeletal system with focus on bones, ligaments, origin & insertions of muscles with nerve supply. Basic overview of the structure and functions (anatomy and physiology) of different systems in a human body. Anatomy of pranayama with focus on energy systems, Chakras, energy bodies and cardiovascular system. Practical application of anatomy and physiology to yoga practices Yoga philosophy, lifestyle and ethics for yoga teachers Minimum decency codes for yoga teachers (Vegetarianism) Yoga Sutras of Patanjali - Samadhi and Sadhana (Chapter 1 & 2) Bhagavad Gita - Dhyana yoga (Chapter 6) Hatha Yoga Pradipika Meditations from Vigyan Bhairav Tantra text Ethics mentioned in yogic scriptures for yoga practitioners and teachers Practicum Leading Ashtanga Vinyasa primary series class Creating and leading a Vinyasa Flow led class Assisting lead trainers, observing and receiving feedback accordingly Tutorials, assignment, and exam Students will be required to engage in self-study and submit daily & weekly assignments on the basis of the day’s lectures and discussions. About the place

Abhinam Yoga center located near the beach allows one to refresh, rejuvenate and restore by providing the unique experience of practicing yoga in the yoga studio to the sound of the waves, the view of sunrise and sunset over the sea and the feel of soothing sea breezes. The center thus offers the perfect location for a yogic holiday to yogis and yoginis from all over the world seeking enlightenment, illumination and a relaxing break to unwind in the lap of nature. Accommodation (sharing and non-sharing basis, depending on the number of students) includes hot shower, attached bathrooms and western toilet.

Food

3 yogi meals per day (except Saturdays and Sundays). The food is sattvic, vegetarian, organic and locally sourced. However, you can choose to opt out if you like to be more flexible with food choices.

Sw.Yogananda Namito
Sw.Yogananda Namito (Rakesh Ranjan) started studying yoga at the age of seven under Swami Satyananda, the founder of Bihar School of Yoga and a direct disciple of Swami Shivananda. Later in his life he studied with great masters of yoga and spirituality such as B.K.S Iyengar and J.Krishnamurti. It was Krishnamurti who inspired him to travel to Iyengar Institute Pune, India and meet Mr. Iyengar in order to learn yoga on deeper level and learn more about the effect of yoga on human body, mind and being. With the blessings of Guruji Iyengar, he fell in love with the art of yoga and began to learn yoga postures with accuracy, alignment and precision along with its therapeutic and medical aspect. During his travelling years in Europe, Namito became interested in Ashtanga Vinyasa series, Mysore-style yoga and practiced with different European teachers of that style. He reflects deeply on therapeutic and medical aspect of yoga. It protects his students from any kind of injury during yoga practice and trains them in preventive measures. He has been learning and teaching yoga for more than twenty five years and feels as a raw beginner in this tremendous and vast field of yoga.

 

Uttam Kumar Mishra
Uttam, born in a Hindu Brahmin family, started to pursue the study in Sanskrit and yoga philosophy at very young age. He has experience in the field of Meditation and Yoga for more than 20 years. He studied Sanskrit, Advaita Philosophy and Patanjali Yoga Sutra in the traditional way. Born in Brahmin family (strictly vegetarian and fussy about purification) he got all the material and situation needed for spiritual growth. At the age of 14 he read Bhagvat Geeta and decided to experience yoga and meditation directly. It transformed his life so much that sharing the philosophy of yoga to the world became the Goa and Dharamshalal of his life. He did university degree in science, and master degree in journalism and studied yoga at Bihar school of Yoga and Advanced therapeutic and Kriya yoga at Kaivalyadhama School, Goa and Dharamshala. According to Uttam, a life without yoga and meditation is meaningless; hence he is passionate to bring ancient sacred knowledge in his teaching of yoga philosophy and inspire his students to take yoga as a way of living and a way to meaningful and peaceful existence.He is giving courses in India, Japan and Europe.

 

Dr. Sujatha Nair
Dr. Sujatha Nair is a homeopathic physician in clinical practice since the year 2000. She holds a Post graduate Diploma in Yoga from the University of Mumbai along with a Post graduate Diploma in Sanskrit, post graduate diploma in Clinical Psychology and Counselling. She is also a certified Clinical Hypnotherapist from CHII. She is a passionate yoga practitioner and mediator herself, along with homeopathic medication, she teaches her patients asana and pranayamas. That helps body mind balancing and aids in recovery from any ailment faster. She teaches students maintaining the health through regular practice of asanas and pranayams and prevention of disease is also imparted thereby. Dr.Sujatha has been an enthusiastic advocate of Yoga at various platforms, facilitating mini demos and speaking about the health, medical and therapeutic benefits of yoga. The events include - medical practitioners at the IMA [Indian Medical Association-Mumbai], to Psychiatrists where they can utilize it amongst their patients, to corporate like Kotak Life Insurance, Mumbai, TISS[Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, etc. Dr. Sujatha is part of a great team of people who form Anatta Humanversity Pvt. Ltd. that rehabilitates those afflicted and affected by the disease of Addiction to Alcohol and Drugs through a Client specific, Non medical Alternative lifestyle therapy that incorporates Meditation, Counseling and Yoga as primary modes.

 

Anand Shekhar
Anand Shekhar hails from major industrial zone of Jamshedpur, India and started his spiritual journey four years back. Even though, Anand started yogic practices at the age of twelve, his heart yearned to understand spirituality on deeper level, which he eventually tasted in meditation and in teachings of Great Masters such as Swami Vivekananda and Swami Shivananda. For the last four years Anand has been a yoga teacher who brings his effort, energy, humor and philosophy to every class he teaches. He has taken classes for few established organizations in India and currently he independently takes classes for various yoga enthusiasts. According to him what helps him keep the class full of life is his openness to learn more about yoga through the interaction with his students. Over these years, Anand has always tried to understand the various elements of yoga such as asanas, pranayama and concentration practices that are crucial before meditation to relax in modern life. During his free time Anand engages himself in reading and knowing about life and philosophy of masters, mystics and gurus such as Buddha, Pramhansa Yogananda, Patanjali, Laotzu, Sri Ramkrishna and many more.

    I've done my yoga teacher training in Abhinam and I really liked the school, teachers, teachings and everything! The special thing about this school is that Ashtanga is taught - the primary series of Pathabi Jois and also the style of Iyengar is taught, for me is it is a perfect blend as Ashtanga is a very hard practice for the body and is important to have a good body alignment to prevent injuries! It is hard to find a school that will bring together the knowledge of this two amazing masters. I recommend to everyone this training, even if your goal is not to be a yoga teacher, the training experience is transformative! The leading teachers are highly qualified and will go out of their way to help you with whatever you need!     Overall I recommend this school for anyone interested in doing an Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga TTC. Teachers were very good and the learning obtained from it was very valuable to my growth in the field of yoga. We had plenty of time to practice teaching methodology which in my understanding is so important when you're pursuing a career that involves sharing your knowledge with others.     Abhinam Yoga Centre has the ideal surroundings for a beneficial and through training course in the science of yoga. As an aspirant in the yoga path, from day one in the course it felt to me as if my evolution is emerging and I feel gratitude to a simple twist of fate that had directed me to this school, and gave me the opportunity to participate in the 200 hrs YTTC.     I did Some yoga classes with Abhinam Yoga in Dharamkot and the instructors were excellent, so i decided to apply for a 200 hr TTC in Goa (Patnem). In Patnem the atmosphere is rural and simple, peaceful, quite unpolluted. The structure of the course is very clear. Namito's extensive experience and dedication to the practice transcends to the student as soon as you enter at school. He helps the students disconnect from the bodys by encouraging them to bring the awareness to their breath and keep your mind focused. The other teachers also help you understand the alignment of the asana with adjustments that are gentle but deep. They are also always available to answer many extra questions. I will return to learn with them again and I highly recommend this experience to those with a passion for Ashtanga who are looking to improve their practice from beginners to the more experienced Yogis.     I had high expectations as I have been studying yoga before. And I learned more in 200 hrs about Yoga, asanas and teaching than I could ever expect.
