Course description

Join Silvia Mordini and special Guest Teachers for a complete 3-week immersion that eliminates the distractions of daily life for most profound self-study on the “Island of Love,” Bali. This program is for you if you’ve ever felt called to experience the nurturing energy of Bali Bundra (Mother Bali). Not everyone is pulled to Bali. Only you know if you are. Listen to your heart.

About the place

Bali is an island and the smallest province of Indonesia, and includes a few smaller neighboring islands. It is located between Java to the west and Lombok to the east, and its capital—Denpasar—is at the southern part of the island. Bali’s central mountains include several peaks over 3,000 meters in elevation. The highest is Mount Agung (3,031 m), known as the “mother mountain” which is an active volcano. South of the mountains is a broad, steadily descending area where most of Bali’s large rice crop is grown. The island is surrounded by coral reefs. Beaches in the south tend to have white sand while those in the north and west have black sand.

Food

Indonesia is comprised of many islands, all with many culinary influences. In Bali, fresh, raw food abounds, and the locals prepare many delicious traditional dishes, such as Nasi Goreng (the national dish of Indonesia & one of our favorites). Rice dishes served with sides of savory meats & vegetables are often part of breakfast, lunch & dinner. Almost all meals are included, though you may wish to explore on your own at times. Exploration is welcomed and encouraged. You will delight in traditional, healthy, organic Balinese Retreat Cuisine! You will have a choice of vegetarian, vegan, raw, gluten free, halal, and many more options.

Things to do

Holistic treatments

Ubud is world renowned for it’s unique and revitalizing spas and spa treatments – try anything from traditional Balinese massage to reflexology (with hundreds of options in between). For $10-$45 USD you can have an amazing treatment or series of treatments in a soothing & stunning location. Many of the spas in town will pick you up at the resort and then drop you in town or back at the resort after. We suggest that you plan at least 3-5 massages during the week. We include a FREE massage as our gift to you!

Meeting point

Alam Puisi Villas

How to get there

A flashlight (or headlamp if you are going on early morning Volcano hiking excursion) Camera (bring extra batteries, a backup camera) Sunglasses (even a spare wouldn’t hurt) Hat! You are close to the equator! Sunblock is EXTREMELY expensive in Bali. Light clothes in natural, breathable fabrics. No heavy synthetics, especially not for yoga (sorry lululemon). Choose colors that will reflect the light of the sun; white is a staple and you can never go wrong with it. HowtopackBaliPhotocollageRecommend knees covered when possible in Ubud or in smaller villages, out of respect, instead of short shorts. The short shorts are fine at the beach. Sleeveless tops are fine, so are tank tops but have a scarf/shawl with you that you can wrap over your shoulders if necessary. Light weight long sleeve to protect yourself from the sun for those that are more sensitive. Easy, flowy lounge pants, beach pants are a nice option Shoes An extra pair of contacts if you wear them, sunglasses and sunscreen. For hiking, be sure to have a lightweight backpack to carry your personal belongings. Also great when riding a Vespa, or riding a bike into town and around. Chargers for phone, camera A small backpack or bag you can bring your magazines and sun block and such. And can be used for all the cool stuff you buy to take home with you! Bug repellent (at least something, then you can always buy more sprays, lotions in Bali for very cheap) Little wetnaps or kleenex pack. Most of the nice places will have toilet paper, but it won’t be unusual not to find any or easy way to wash your hands. It is a good idea to keep little wet naps or tissue with you at all times just in case. PS What do I personally wear? I a lot of dresses, flowy pants, hats, sunnies, purse over shoulder (with camera, scarf, and temple wear so I’m always ready)

Silvia – I entered teacher training just hoping to deepen my practice but the reality is I graduated as a whole new me. This was an adventure that pushed, challenged and encouraged me to grow. In a matter of months I became more self-aware and self-confident than any time in my life. I wasn’t surrounded by a group of students that wanted to perfect their asanas. I joined a Kula (a community of the heart), an extended family that offered unconditional support and inspiration. I am grateful to Silvia Mordini for the professional, organized and extremely informative yoga training, but I am eternally indebted to Silvia for creating a safe space for growth and helping open my eyes to my potential! Calling Alchemy of Yoga a yoga teacher training program does not do it justice. My three weeks in Costa Rica with Silvia and the Alchemy tribe and then the time after working on my practicum gave me a loving space and guidance to delve deep to truly find myself and my purpose. As a result of the in-depth study, I am more confident, more connected and more able to flow peacefully with the waves of life. I also developed some of the deepest and most profound friendships with members of my beautiful Kula, lifelong sisters and brother that support and love with so much heart. To say that Alchemy of Yoga is just a teacher training program does not even skim the surface of it. Yes, I came out of the program a yoga teacher, and yes I can teach yoga now, but more than that I can truly say that I live my yoga each day now (and have one seriously magical tribe that supports me in that path). Thank you, Silvia, for truly teaching me yoga! From Bodhi Tree
