We also invite you to pay closer attention to the things in your life that uplift you and to start the process of detaching yourself from the things that drag you down. By the time you start the training you should be completely cigarette and drug free. During the training, we will continue our cleansing by avoiding alcohol as well. You will soon discover that Yoga can release some pretty awesome chemicals in your brain, more powerful than any artificial high created by substances! The beauty of the nature, and healthy diet at Anamaya Resort in combination with the daily yoga practice and time spent outdoors will put you in the best shape of your life by the end of this training. Not only physically but also mentally due to the process of transformation that happens during the training from the deep connections you will create with nature, with yourself and with others.

How to get there

A beautiful way to experience Costa Rica is from the air. From San Jose it’s only a 30 minute flight to Tambor, our local airport. This costs $75-$105 (each way). There, we will arrange to have a taxi waiting for you. Then to Anamaya it’s about a 30 minute scenic ride, which costs $40 for a regular taxi (max 4 people) or $10/person for a van (5-9 people). If you don’t get a chance to arrange one with us, there is almost always one there waiting and they should know where we are located.

Instructors

Banyan Gallagher
Banyan Gallagher is a teacher’s teacher. With over twenty years experience as an international athlete, circus performer, and yoga teacher, he is an expert at unraveling the beauty—and barriers—hidden within the body. A passionate teacher and dedicated student, Banyan is the Founder and Director of Warrior 1 Yoga and leads retreats, workshops, and teacher trainings worldwide. With integrity and trust, he challenges his students on levels physical, mental, and energetic. This rigorous approach is well balanced by a caring and jovial attitude that demonstrates his love of life and commitment to his students. Never afraid to have a laugh, Banyan is a warm, playful soul whose presence offers genuine calm to all those around him. From the very start, Banyan has had the pleasure of working with some of the world’s most renowned teachers, from Tias Little to Andrey Lappa, Shiva Rea to Ana Forrest, Eddie Modestini to Nicki Doane, Jim Bennitt to Rod Stryker and T.K.V. Desikachar. To continually deepen his practice and breadth of knowledge, Banyan intensely studies everything from Sufi mystical poetry to human dissection and anatomy. He has spent the bulk of the last ten years traveling the world and learning from a variety of masters both East and West. Banyan passes the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya forward, prescribing different yogas for different individuals. His multidisciplinary and global studies have facilitated this process well. In his classes, he blends traditional teachings with modern analogies in the interest of giving the Western practitioner direction, stillness, and balance—and maybe a laugh here and there!

Antoine Tinawi
Antoine Tinawi is the main teacher on this program. He will be present during the totality of the training. Antoine owns and runs two successful yoga studios in Montreal, Canada. Having studied yoga for 24 years with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, one of the world’s most renowned masters of yoga, meditation and spirituality, Antoine has a vast knowledge of yoga that goes far and wide beyond the physical aspects of postures. He is a firm believer that yoga teachers need to have a skillful balance and equal knowledge of both the classical traditional yoga from India as well as the modern more popular forms of yoga practiced in the West. A concept he refers to as deep roots and healthy branches. Antoine is a master at bringing about a powerful life transformation in students during the course of their training, mainly by sharing the profound experience of yoga as a complete lifestyle. Antoine is a former IT Project Manager, he has been practicing yoga since 1993 and teaching since 2002. He has completed eleven 200h Yoga Teacher Training programs with different teachers and leads three 200h Yoga Techer Training Programs each year. “My stay at Anamaya was the most refreshing vacation of my life… I awoke each morning for an hour of yoga on the most beautiful yoga deck with a panoramic view of the jungle and the Pacific. The rest of my days were filled with a swim in the infinity pool, zip lining, waterfall climbing, aerial silks, Zumba and surfing… the pictures do not do it justice. You cannot smell or feel the amazing vibe it has. I have booked a return trip to Anamaya in a few months. So fortunate to have stumbled upon this treasure in paradise.” From Anamaya Resort

“Doing early morning yoga on the deck that overlooks the beautiful Pacific Ocean is something I’ll never forget. My mind definitely wandered more than it should during yoga as I took the amazing views. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It’s even more beautiful in person… We were very lucky and people who started the week as strangers quickly became our friends. We had many a laugh while sitting around the pool… We’ll be back…” From Anamaya Resort

“I just got back from a month at Anamaya and it was beyond my expectations (and I had pretty high expectations). Didn’t think it was possible but the view from that infinity pool and the yoga deck was well beyond what anyone has been able to capture in photos. I’ve been completely spoiled now… the yoga classes had monkeys playing a few feet away in the trees, colorful humming birds and butterflies zipping around and whales splashing around in the ocean view…” From Anamaya Resort

This place is incredible, as soon as you walk on their property you feel welcomed and more relaxed. So many different things you can do here as well. Of course there is yoga, but if you want excitement, there are waterfalls, hikes, boat trips with snorkeling and surfing on the beautiful beaches. The prices are great compared to most resorts that over price any "extras". Each meal here was incredible, but you could also easily walk down into town and eat something local on the beach. I've never been to a more accommodating resort.Their are no restrictions and curfews and things not to do. If you want to try something new they do their best to helping you do it. I have recommended everyone i know to this resort, even the people who do not do yoga, because just going for the spa services is incredible! I had the privilege of doing Watsu with Ana and Reiki which for me was not a new experience but a very powerful one after already being in such a spiritual and happy place. I cant wait to go back here to this magical place to visit my new family! from Tripadvisor

The resort is situated overlooking the pristine jungle and ocean...I heard the waves crashing against the shore all week long from my room and the main dining area. All the details are lovely, clean rooms, safe surroundings, Delicious Food, and plenty of fun activities including Yoga. The staff is AMAZING!!! So warm and caring...they handle every detail to ensure you have the best experience. I loved the pool and the yoga deck where we greeted the sunrise each morning during our practice. Truly breathtaking views! The flowers and nature are also lovely! I saw a train of monkeys and tons of beautiful birds. I cannot wait to book my next trip to Anamaya!! I can not say enough about this wonderful place. I was traveling by myself and picked this resort based on other trip advisor reviews, and I was not disappointed. All the rooms are unique (I stayed in the Ganesh cabin, which was amazing,) and the staff becomes like family. The food is amazing and the yoga decks have the most perfect views. The property is even more beautiful in person than the photos can show. The staff was also great about quickly returning my emails before my trip and answering all my questions, which made me feel better about heading there alone. I thought it was a great value, and I can't wait to go back. Book your room as soon as you can! from Tripadvisor

Going to Anamaya was the trip of a lifetime! Everything was taken care of by the attentive & kind staff. From food restrictions for every guest to remembering all of our names on the first day. They helped us arrange travel and coordinate all of our activities. From surfing to zip lining to an incredible dinner on the beach Wednesday night. I would recommend Anamaya to everyone I know! I traveled there by myself & met so many amazing people. You will not regret traveling to Montezuma & staying at Anamaya, with the best views of the ocean!!
