How to get thereA beautiful way to experience Costa Rica is from the air. From San Jose it’s only a 30 minute flight to Tambor, our local airport. This costs $75-$105 (each way). There, we will arrange to have a taxi waiting for you. Then to Anamaya it’s about a 30 minute scenic ride, which costs $40 for a regular taxi (max 4 people) or $10/person for a van (5-9 people). If you don’t get a chance to arrange one with us, there is almost always one there waiting and they should know where we are located.

Banyan Gallagher is a teacher’s teacher. With over twenty years experience as an international athlete, circus performer, and yoga teacher, he is an expert at unraveling the beauty—and barriers—hidden within the body. A passionate teacher and dedicated student, Banyan is the Founder and Director of Warrior 1 Yoga and leads retreats, workshops, and teacher trainings worldwide. With integrity and trust, he challenges his students on levels physical, mental, and energetic. This rigorous approach is well balanced by a caring and jovial attitude that demonstrates his love of life and commitment to his students. Never afraid to have a laugh, Banyan is a warm, playful soul whose presence offers genuine calm to all those around him. From the very start, Banyan has had the pleasure of working with some of the world’s most renowned teachers, from Tias Little to Andrey Lappa, Shiva Rea to Ana Forrest, Eddie Modestini to Nicki Doane, Jim Bennitt to Rod Stryker and T.K.V. Desikachar. To continually deepen his practice and breadth of knowledge, Banyan intensely studies everything from Sufi mystical poetry to human dissection and anatomy. He has spent the bulk of the last ten years traveling the world and learning from a variety of masters both East and West. Banyan passes the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya forward, prescribing different yogas for different individuals. His multidisciplinary and global studies have facilitated this process well. In his classes, he blends traditional teachings with modern analogies in the interest of giving the Western practitioner direction, stillness, and balance—and maybe a laugh here and there!
Antoine Tinawi is the main teacher on this program. He will be present during the totality of the training. Antoine owns and runs two successful yoga studios in Montreal, Canada. Having studied yoga for 24 years with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, one of the world’s most renowned masters of yoga, meditation and spirituality, Antoine has a vast knowledge of yoga that goes far and wide beyond the physical aspects of postures. He is a firm believer that yoga teachers need to have a skillful balance and equal knowledge of both the classical traditional yoga from India as well as the modern more popular forms of yoga practiced in the West. A concept he refers to as deep roots and healthy branches. Antoine is a master at bringing about a powerful life transformation in students during the course of their training, mainly by sharing the profound experience of yoga as a complete lifestyle. Antoine is a former IT Project Manager, he has been practicing yoga since 1993 and teaching since 2002. He has completed eleven 200h Yoga Teacher Training programs with different teachers and leads three 200h Yoga Techer Training Programs each year. He is also a registered massage and Ayurveda therapist.
