We explore drawing various shapes with the body including figure 8s and learn how to isolate muscles groups.

Knowledge of the morphology of our language is critical to vocabulary development and reflects the smallest building blocks for comprehension.

The study of how individual words and their most basic meaningful units are combined to create sentences is known as syntax.

Instructors

Annalisa Raghunandan
Annalisa is the founder and organizer of CampBellyDance,LLC. As an instructor of Improvisational Tribal Style, Tribal Fusion Belly Dance, and Yoga in Costa Rica's southern zone, her focus has been on building community through dance. Her classes are designed for the absolute beginner, yogis, dancer's aspiring to cross train in another art form, or anyone simply seeking dance as a form of fitness, fun, and overall personal development. She received most of her dance training from Anaya Tribal, a troupe based out of Phoenix, Arizona and Rachel Brice, a world renowned international performer and teacher based out of Portland, Oregon. Her passion and abilities are accredited to her teachers and a dedicated, ritualistic personal practice that includes cross training with African Dance and Urban Street Styles. In addition, to being a dancer and teacher, Annalisa is a mother of two, and an organic gardener, who has dedicated the past eight years of her life to raising her children in Costa Rica on their family farm, developing a deep connection with nature along with a sound understanding of where real food comes from and how to produce it using sustainable methods. Understanding that the key to physical, emotional, and spiritual growth comes from being self-disciplined and having a devoted daily practice she encourages her students to discover a path that leads them to their higher selves.

Alexandra Sirocky
Alexandra began her yoga journey after sustaining a neck & heel injury after years of competitive dance. In the spring of 2008, she worked at a local studio where she became exposed to a variety of yoga styles. Yoga restored the connection between her heart, body, mind and soul to the beautiful world that surrounds us and reignited the spark of divine energy that lives within each of us. To her, yoga brought an inner discovery of the Self, her true Self, and was a stepping-stone that sparked the path of becoming a teacher and spreading the message of natural healing & wellness to the planet. Her motto is, ‘Heal yourself, heal the planet’. In 2013, she was trained under Kamini Desai in Yoga Nidra at Spirit of Yoga and went on to continue her education at Inner Vision Yoga, receiving her 200 Hour teaching certification. In 2015, she completed her Level 1 Kundalini Yoga teacher training at Anahata Yoga in Scottsdale, Arizona under Sevak Singh and Sangeet Kaur Khalsa. Certified in Yoga & Kundalini Level 1. Alexandra is also a trained sound healer, nutritional coach and urban farmer. Believing that we all have the ability to heal ourselves, she guides her students to be present within their own practice, to find the light within, and to reestablish that connection with ones true divinity.

"I want to climb to the top of the mountain and yell "Hoorah!!" Camp Belly Dance, was more magical than a trip to Disney world! Before I went on this adventure, I was very confused and unhappy. I was becoming distant from everyday life, and seeking happiness. The amazing instructors and people on this trip changed all of that! One thing I learned, even more important than yoga technique, is that everyone has a story. It was great to take a one week break from reality and cleanse the body and soul! The way I describe this transformation is: before this trip, I was the most insecure and judgemental person, I was afraid to speak my mind or even acknowledge anything out of the ordinary in life. Now I take a moment for myself and set intentions, and no longer care what people think! If you're thinking of the retreat at all, I'd say "GO!" Extremely life changing and worth it!" "For my first retreat, Camp Belly Dance was the perfect amount of meditative and physical wellness. We had an amazing group of girls to learn from and build with. The teachers were also so talented, helpful, and nurturing. They offered everything from belly dancing to sound healing, yoga, hiking, spa treatments and more. The program was well planned with beautiful accommodations, great food, fun and super inspiring souls. I left feeling refreshed and recharged and can't wait for the next opportunity. Thank You CBD for hosting such a great experience for all of us." From Camp Belly Dance Website

"Camp Belly Dance saved my life, and I'm not exaggerating. I was going through a serious depression at the time, on top of the stress that occurs when traveling internationally. When I got there, all of my worries and anxiety melted away. Not only was the landscape majestic, Annalisa and Alexandra were the greatest hosts. They were super accommodating, and really catered to our experience. It felt like a fun sleepover, but it was also spiritually transformational. Through the experience, I learned to not only accept myself, but embrace who I am, as I am, in my current life and body. The activities were healing, fun, and I learned things that I brought back home to my everyday practice. I recommend CBD to anyone who is in need of healing, as well as to enhance your skills in both yoga and belly dance. The two go hand in hand. The location and natural sites are breath taking. You will totally get your moneys worth, plus more!!" From Camp Belly Dance Website

    "An Experience of a lifetime"
I went on my first yoga retreat this month with Camp Belly Dance and I was definitely not disappointed. This was an experience to remember for a lifetime. It even rained the first few days we were there, but something about Costa Rica and the retreat center made the rain magical. As soon as the sun came out, our group hiked up the Cloud Bridge Nature Reserve where we connected with nature and had a breathtaking view of the waterfalls. We also had bellydance classes with Annalisa, who is an amazing teacher and very understanding. I will say that I am by no means good at belly dancing, but that didn't matter! The fun we had trying is what made this a wonderful experience! Yoga classes were held through Justine's instruction, our hostess with the mostest. She always somehow managed to teach to every skill level. We also had a Spa Day, where we covered each other in natural clay and painted each other. We let the clay dry in the sun and then washed off in the river. We bonded with each other throughout this whole week and then really got a chance to get to know one another on the last day we were there. We all had an amazing bonding experience. The whole experience being there and bonding with this beautiful group of women is something I will treasure for a lifetime From Camp Belly Dance Facebook page
