Sandra Gallegos is going to be your instructor for this yoga retreat, she was born and raised in Lima, Peru and is a certified yoga teacher and studied with international teachers. She lived in Australia and studied International Tourism on the Gold Coast and stayed for 5 years enjoying the life ‘down under’ while pursuing her yoga studies. Her yoga classes are a variety of styles with Ashtanga as her base and her interest in Ayurvedic medicine also shapes her approach to teaching classes. When Sandra moved back to Lima she continued with her practice of Ashtanga and in 2012 became a certified yoga teacher with over 200 hours of training and registered by the Yoga Alliance with a focus on Ashtanga yoga. She continues to take courses with different teachers to deepen her knowledge of this profound practice discipline and philosophy and teaches a variety of styles in her classes. In 2015, she travelled to Mysore, India to study with her guru Sharath Jois, the grandson of the founder of the Ashtanga style. Sandra also took an Ayurveda course with Dr. Chitra Lekha at the Mysore Ayurveda Retreat and Training Centre as well as studying yoga sutras and mantra chanting. Her studies also include a “Yoga for Kids” teacher training course which was inspired by her 4 year-old son is a certified children’s yoga instructor. Sandra is also a Reiki master and a lover of nature and the ocean and spends her free time traveling and is an avid surfer. Sandra embraces yoga as a life philosophy and the practice helps to open our consciousness and encourage us to live in the present moment and be aware of our emotions to be happier and more free in our daily lives.
