Other activitiesYou can rent bicycles, kayaks and motor scooters at the lodge to explore the island. If you need a taxi, just speak to Ning and she’ll organize one for you. Our local village is called Tha Khao and is a 10 minute walk along the beach from the nature lodge. Tha Khao has a “sell everything” store, food stalls and an internet cafe. The main road around the island is a 20km loop. There’s one real town halfway around the loop called “the market” which has about 1000 inhabitants. The market has a 7-11, a post office, police station, bank, internet cafes, local and tourist restaurants, clothes shopping, a pharmacy and an ATM. There is another ATM 2 km’s from the Nature lodge but bring cash as these machines sometimes don’t work! There are beaches all down the eastern side of the island - our side.. and amazing sunrises; the western side has mangroves with good bird watching and stunning sunsets. With plenty of free time during the day, you can explore remote beaches and lively markets, rice paddies and rubber plantations. This is also the time to treat yourself to a massage or take a Thai cookery course. Recreation options include swimming and snorkeling, hiking and biking, rock climbing and kayaking.

How to get thereIt’s generally easier to access the island via Phuket, which has more flight and ferry options than Krabi. If you fly into Phuket, the last island ferry leaves for the island at 5.30pm. If you fly into Krabi the last ferry leaves for the island at 5.15pm. It’s easier to access the island via Phuket which has more flight and ferry options than Krabi. Flying into Phuket, the last ferry departs at 5.40pm, from Krabi the last ferry departs at 5.30pm. From Phuket 1. From the airport take a taxi to Bang Rong Pier. Approximately 25 minutes – 600 THB. 2. Catch the ferry to Koh Yao Noi 30 minutes by speedboat – 200 THB per person, 1 hour by long tail – 120 THB per person. Boat times – the first ferry leaves at 7.30 am and they run approx. every hour till 5.40 pm 3. Take a shared taxi to Ulmars Nature Lodge (Island Yoga). 20 minutes - 150 THB per person. Don’t worry, there are always taxi’s waiting at the pier, no need to pre-book one. From Krabi 1. From the airport take a taxi to Tha Lane Pier. Approximately 45 minutes – 700-800 THB. 2. Catch the ferry to Koh Yao Noi. Ferries leave every hour starting at 9 am and finishing at 5.30pm - 30 minutes by speedboat THB 200 - 1 hour by long tail THB 150. 3. Take a taxi to Ulmar’s Nature Lodge (Island Yoga). 5 minute taxi ride costs THB 50 pp or you can walk to the Nature Lodge in 15 minutes. 4. Bus option from Krabi town This route is a little more complex; please ask locals or the tourist information in Krabi town for bus times to Tha Lane pier.

UK born David lives in Thailand where he established “Island Yoga” retreats on Koh Yao Noi. David has studied yoga/meditation and Tai Chi in India, China, S.E. Asia, USA and Europe. Although he considers himself a serious student of spiritual disciplines, he has a lighthearted and often humorous approach to teaching and, through his engaging style; he can make seemingly complex subjects simple, fun and interesting. His deepest passion is teaching movement in meditation. Be it based in yoga, dynamic chanting, Tai Chi Qi Gong or even rock climbing, you’ll be sure to come away from his classes with a greater appreciation for the “Art of Meditation”.
Tea comes originally from Finland, but has lived around Asia and Middle East since 2003. She has been actively involved with Yoga practice since 2005. She has studied and practiced Yoga with several renowned teachers. Tea frequently attends workshops and training; further developing and updating her knowledge of Yoga practice and philosophy as well as anatomy and Pranayama. She has been teaching Yoga classes and workshops since 2009 in China, Malaysia, Qatar and Thailand. She emphasizes the importance of correct alignment and breathing in her classes, which are taught with great joy and enthusiasm, without forgetting the traditional spirit of Yoga.

She skillfully translates theancient knowledge of Hatha Yoga to the modern world, she knows to raise your spiritual awareness and her personal goal is to inspire you and make you feel just a little happier. To get you out of your daily routine and into the present moment she likes to start her classes by guiding you through some gentle pranayama and meditation. Dynamic and energizing sequences are followed by conscious and grounding asanas always keeping the right balance between flexibility and strength, freedom and stability, flow and static, yin and yang. Anja loves to weave storytelling and proper alignment into her yoga teachings. Anja has been practicing and studying yoga around the world completing her 300h+ teacher training at Yoga Vidya Gurukul in Nasik, India and holding an advanced certification from Jivani Yoga in Koh Phangan, Thailand (RYS 500h).
