How to get there

By car If you should plan your journey by car, be prepared that – even though there have been a lot of improvements lately – the roads in are partly not tarred and famous for their potholes. We strongly recommend a 4×4 so you can travel worry-free on the Costa Rican roads. Possible car rentals include Alamo and Budget. Coming from San Jose, you take the Highway No. 1 / Interamericana and drive northwest for about 2 hours in the direction of Puntarenas. It is one of the bigger towns outside the Central Valley so you shouldn’t have any problems finding it. From there you take a ferry to Paquera, which is situated on the Nicoya peninsula. In high season, there is a ferry leaving for Paquera about every two hours. Once you are on the ferry, you can enjoy the sun and scenery for about one hour and 15 minutes. Normally they also offer little snacks and drinks during the passage. The prices for the passage for the car and driver are about 8500 colones (about $ 17); for every additional person, it costs about 810 colones ($ 1.40). From Paquera it takes another 1.5 hours until you get to Mal Pais. To get to your destination, you take the road to Playa Tambor but continue straight to Cobano. From Cobano you follow the road until you get to Playa El Carmen. On the right-hand side, you will see a big sign saying “Frank’s Place”. This is the intersection that divides Playas El Carmen and Santa Teresa in the north from Mal Pais in the south. To get to Indigo Yoga Resort, you take a left turn at this intersection and follow the road for a little more than 5 minutes until you see the Indigo Yoga Resort entrance and coffee shop on your left-hand side. By plane There are two different airlines that offer their services within: Sansa and Nature Air. For timetables and prices, you can go to their homepages or you can also contact us at email or phone number and we are happy to help you with your reservations. The flight takes about 25 minutes and we can arrange a taxi transfer to Indigo Yoga Resort for you from the airstrip at Playa Tambor. By public transport In San Jose, you will have to find the bus station of Puntarenas. Since the bus stations to the various destinations are located in different areas of the town, please ask for directions there. The bus to Puntarenas costs about 1800 colones (about $ 3.20) and you will be travelling for about 2.5 hours until you get to the bus station in Paquera. From there you take a taxi to the ferry port. The ferry costs about810 colones per person. Once in Paquera, you can arrange a taxi transfer to Mal Pais, which costs about $ 90 or take another bus to El Carmen. From there you can catch a local taxi to Indigo yoga Resort. Please regard the above mentioned prices only as a guidance, we can not guarantee these prices, since they can always be subject to change.

Darin Jay Lehman
Darin Jay Lehman E-RYT 500 has always been a soul-surfer. Not looking for the best answers, looking for the best questions to bring meaning, happiness and fullness into life. A surfer, artist, musician, writer, avid outdoors-man and occasionally a bohemian world traveller, Darin needed to find a grounding practice to complement the fluidity in his life, to help him find balance. Darin’s teachings are an integrative approach, weaving the path between modern day understandings of the world and more traditional timeless teachings of many diverse and beautiful cultures, including but not limited to, the yogic, shamanic, and kabbalistic paths. Darin walks the line between form and formless; “we hold non-attachment to the form, but respect and reverence for the tradition, an internal knowledge of the formless permeating everything that is manifested physically.” Darin is an innovator, merging the physical practices of yoga and qigong, with the connection to higher Spirit, the elements, the directions, all of our own personal guides, guardians and teachers. Darin brings the expression of Bhakti (devotion) into his classes through the use of singing Kirtan songs, chanting, Icaros (earth medicine music) and playing a variety of instruments. Darin also incorporates ceremony into his classes including Mantra, Cacao Ceremony, Shamanic Drum Journey’s, Rapé and Plant Medicine Journeys. Darin loves to use his breath-work knowledge and life experiences to engage and compel his classes to allow students to deepen their own practices at their own pace and push themselves physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Lacey Hickox
Lacey Hickox E-RYT 500 is inspired to share the healing power of yoga with the global community and is continuously seeking to learn, explore, and live the path of yoga as a teacher and humble student. Lacey views this sacred practice as a path to self-discovery and self-love and as a divine tool to deepen our connection with Spirit. She infuses her offerings with many modalities including Thai Massage, Reiki, Sound Healing, Earth Medicine and Shamanic Ceremony. Her intention is to leave students feeling empowered, centred, focused and inspired to continue the yoga practice off the mat with an emphasis on the principles of mindfulness, awareness, patience and a deep reverence for Pachamama. Lacey aspires to hold space for students to dive deeper into their practice both physically and spiritually and to connect with the beauty that is within and all around. Lacey has been fortunate enough to study with many beautiful souls and finds deep inspiration from the teachings of Janet Stone, Shiva Rea, Shri Brahmananda and her teachers in the Andes Mountains of Peru. Lacey has lived, studied and practised in several different ashrams and spiritual communities worldwide, immersing herself in the depths of this practice. She has a playful yet grounded approach to this journey and is a devoted student of life. Lacey loves the growth and awareness that comes with travel. She finds inspiration from seeking new practices and learning about different traditions around the world while connecting to the global consciousness. You can often find her teaching at retreats as well as sharing workshops and participating in yogic conferences and festivals internationally. Lacey is honoured to hold space as an SPY founder and facilitator for this transformational process.
