About the place

Koh Phangan, Thailand is a tropical island paradise with some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, crystal waters, huge mountains and green jungle. It is safe and friendly. There is no traffic or pollution. Koh Phangan is famous for Full Moon Party, but that is 1 hour away from us. Our studio is located at Haad Yao beach in the north-west part of the island. It looks like heaven. There are many cool beach bars, dive centers, shops and other yoga and detox centers nearby. Studio: One of our studios is located at Bounty Resort, Haad Yao, Koh Phangan. It is on a hill overlooking the sea with glass walls, clean, full of light and bright yellow colours. Sometimes, for a low or high number of confirmed participants, we choose to use another studio, between the others in the area. In case, we will suggest you a comfortable accommodation located nearby. After your confirmation, sure few days before your arrival, every detail will be communicated to you. Bounty Resort is a beautiful hill/sea side location with a private beach, wi-fi, swimming pool, friendly staff and and surprisingly good restaurant. The rooms are mostly garden view because it is on a hill. Some rooms have a sea view, but none are on the beach. If you want more peaceful, private, quiet and convenient, stay at Bounty. High Life Bungalows is next to Bounty, which a little more expensive and lively. The restaurant and some rooms have incredible balconies overlooking beautiful Haad Yao Beach, one of the island’s best. The beach is again 50 meters walk down steps (Haad Yao beach, not tiny private Bounty beach). There is a bar and generally more guests and activity than Bounty. So it’s great if you want something close and beautiful with a little more night-life. If you want something with a better view, on the beach or upscale resort, please follow our suggestions and book yourself. Just 5 minutes walk from Bounty Resort, you walk through High Life Bungalows and down some stairs to incredible Haad Yao beach. There you can find several wonderful beach bungalow resorts such as Sandy Bay Bungalows, Seaboard Bungalows, Ibiza Beach Resort and Sea Though. For more upscale accommodation you can try Haadson Resort, which is at Haad Son / Secret beach, 7 minutes walk south. Just 5 minutes walk north, down the hill, is Haad Yao Beach, which is incredibly beautiful and amazing with many resorts, water sports and nightlife with a mature hippie vibe. If you want a chill beach bungalow, stay somewhere there and walk to the studio. Also, 5 minutes walk south is Haadson / Secret Beach. Smaller than Haad Yao, but equally beautiful. Great for swimming and has one incredible semi-upscale resort, Haad Son Son

How to get there

From Bangkok you can fly, train or bus to Surat Thani (or Koh Samui, which is usually $100 more, but 3-4 hours faster). On arrival, you buy a ferry ticket to Koh Phangan - Thong Sala Pier. There are ferries almost every hour, you don’t need to book in advance. Tell the resort your arrival time and they will pick you up. Or just get a taxi at the Tong Sala Pier (20min, 200THB / $6). Or you can rent a motorbike 250THB, consider that the rental will ask to keep your passport. (To catch the last ferry to Koh Phangan, plan to arrive in Surat Thani at least by 3:30 pm or in Koh Samui by 4:30 pm) Getting Around Scooters are just $7.50 a day. The rental keeps your passport. The roads are hilly, sometimes sandy and windy and some new drivers have accidents. So wear a helmet and drive slowly. Taxis average $7.50 minimum for a short ride. They pass frequently so it is easy to catch a ride anywhere. There are like 30 cool beach resorts within 10-minute walk from the studio. So there is no need to travel unless you want to tour the island.

Getting my 200 hour teacher training at Ulu was just the most wonderful experience. Incredible, attentive & supportive staff with vast knowledge to share in a tropical paradise setting-nothing beats staring out over the ocean as you practice. The variety of yoga styles taught here is so unique & special. I went for primarily aerial training & discovered new passions in sup & acro yoga. Hope they add on a 300hr as I can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend. From UluYoga Facebook Page

I am really happy to have met Edward and under his careful guide to have completed 80 hrs TTC in Aerial Yoga. Amazing experience! Such good experience, that I am planning to move back in Thailand and practice intensively. As well start to collaborate with Eddy, bringing of course my skills and professional knowledges too with intention to enrich his offers with good activities that implement the well-being. I have little yoga experience, and this was my first training. I deeply enjoyed the course, the teacher Edward, and the location Blue Indigo in Siem Reap. After this training I feel confident to teach aerial yoga safely, after gaining a bit more experience, and help folks improve their posture, health, and enjoy this fun way of practicing yoga. The teaching was a balance of theory and practice, with hands-on exercise on building a aerial yoga swing and a aerial yoga tripod to be able to practice anywhere. The teaching process was disciplined and rigorous, putting safety first, yet teacher was flexible to accommodate our requests and adjust to our yoga levels. I highly recommend both ULU yoga to anyone interested in learning aerial yoga! From UluYoga Website

I attended Ulu Yoga Aerial Yoga Teacher Training in Koh Phangan, Thailand. Jan 15-23, 2017. It was an amazing time with a wonderful group and great teacher. It was so much fun and I learned so much. Everyday we had 7 hours of aerial class, including acro , aerial Hatha, choreography , performance , making ropes and own swings , teaching practice, plus incredible photoshoots at the waterfall and beach. I could do everything with no experience. Plus the location is so beautiful. There is a perfect long beach with mountains and the studio is deep in huge green jungle with so many animals and life. We were really inspired and brought all our creativity to make our own original class and choreography. I feel more flexible, strong, energetic and happy because now I can fly and share this experience with my future students! I recommend so much you take this course! From UluYoga Website

    "... book today! ;)"
I had an unbelievable great time at ulu yoga. I did the 200 hrs yoga teacher training and learned so much about the different styles of yoga. We had great classes with the best teachers! As well in the practice and the theory! For me it was very interesting to learn about the philosophie and background. In combination with your new knowledge, practice and reflection, you can experience yourself in another way and learn a lot for your whole life (if you want) 😉 It was an intense experience and I would repeat it everytime again with ulu yoga. The teachers at ulu are a great team and there for you in every way to support you and your development! I really enjoyed the atmosphere and also the connection to the other students, which went deeper day by day. Ulu yoga is an innovative school. They work hard to offer the best and individual programme for you to prepare you to become confident and good teachers!! You need to practice by yourself, but they offer the best foundation for you! Those 200 hrs are a great offer for all levels! Come and visit Ulu Yoga and make your own indescribable experience <3 Thank you for your knowledge, love and support Shashi, Viktoria, Eleonora, Alon and Edward! From UluYoga Facebook Page

A wonderful experience and unique program for anyone who's interested in aerial yoga, experienced or not. I especially enjoy the wide range of possibilities enabled by the program, where there are fun challenges for advanced yogis, great transition to those awesome poses intermediates always want to achieve, as well as an easy-breezy start for beginners. All teachers are great in their own way and the variety in teaching styles really helped me to discover my own. The positive energy from my class mates not only has deepened my practice but also expanded my understanding of mild mindfulness and kindness to a new level. It's all about the people, at the end of the day, it's the person you learn from/with that matters the most. That being said, the beach is just at your doorstep with the most breathtaking sunset view and fun water activities that Thailand has to offer 🙂 thank you Uluyoga and Edward. From UluYoga Website
