Aerial Yoga

Life is better upside down, and the same can be true for a yoga class! Aerial yoga combines the athleticism of Cirque, the consciousness of yoga and Pranayama, and the enjoyment of levitating and floating off the ground!

Your Aerial Yoga Practice

Aerial yoga can seem intimidating at first glance, but the soft silks and fun postures make it welcoming for yogis; regardless of your current level of practice.

This yoga style not only gives great photo opportunities but also improves circulation, flexibility and relieves stress. The hammock itself is only 3 feet off the ground and is always taught by certified Aerial Yoga instructors.

What is Aerial Yoga?

Aerial yoga originated in New York and is now popular all over the world! The rapid growth in popularity has been with students who spend a large time of their day sitting, or who may have back pain.

Aerial yoga uses a hammock or yoga swing to aid students into yoga postures that they may not ordinarily be able to access on the yoga mat, this is beneficial as it has a decompressing effect on the spine and provides a deep release.

This style combines traditional yoga with moves inspired by dance, pilates, and acrobatics, and was created by Christopher Harrison, a dancer with a performance background in acrobatics.

Information about Aerial Teacher Trainings

Aerial Yoga is one of the only yoga teacher training programs available online, this means you can work on the program from the convenience of your own home! Some programs provide upwards of 400 hours of training including methodology, practicum, safety and adjustments as well as cueing, chakra alignment and of course how to fly!

There is always the option to fly yourself to an amazing island or city for a full immersion style training as well! Aerial Yoga teacher training programs are currently being offered in Koh Phangan Thailand, Millstatt Austria, and even Canggu Bali.

These programs prepare you to lead group classes, understand rigging and safety techniques and even prepare you for business operation back in your hometown.

If you are looking for something new and exciting to add to your portfolio, Aerial Yoga is an ever-expanding option!

Information about Aerial Yoga Retreats

Perhaps you have been practicing Aerial Yoga for a while, and you are ready for a deeper connection with fellow fliers, or maybe you are brand new to this style and looking for a yoga holiday; either way, an Aerial Yoga Retreat is a way to go!

Total beginners with no yoga experience can do this course, and any age or body type is welcome. Aerial Yoga truly is a mix of Hatha, Vinyasa, Ashtanga, physical therapy, acrobatics, and stretching; all while in the aerial hammock.

Most resorts will offer aerial yoga, meditation, and even Thai massage! Retreats are sure to have lots of free time on the beach with new friends, vegan and vegetarian meals and all the yoga postures you can handle!
