Anusara Yoga

The tantra based Anusara Yoga means “flowing with grace” and helps you to experience joy in your yoga practice but also in daily life. It takes the habits of modern men into account to prevent injury and improve postures.

Your Anusara Yoga Practice

Anusara Yoga is a modern, heart-opening yoga style from the USA and was founded by John Friend in 1997. Anusara Yoga combines the life and body-affirming philosophy of Tantra with bio-mechanical based alignment principles. Anusara Yoga is suitable for beginners and advanced yogis because all asanas are taught with great precision and exact alignment to avoid injury. The Anusara style has flow character.

What is Anusara Yoga?

Anusara Yoga has its base in the Tantra philosophy. It is teaching the students a more self-accepting attitude in this world full of comparison and feeling of never being good enough. Instead of holding on to a strict form of how an asana has to look like, the asana should be growing out of your individual source. You learn how to deepen positive feelings and deal with negative feelings and many practitioners are becoming more friendly, conscious and calm when they have a regular practice.

In addition to the opening of the heart, Anusara Yoga focuses on the habits and anatomy of modern humans. With biomechanics and bioenergetics, John Friend developed extremely precise alignment principles that prevent injuries and reduce the postural damage that is being caused by unhealthy habits of modern life such as long office hours.

When you practice Anusara Yoga your body will be stronger and more flexible, injuries will heal faster and your posture will be improved. The heart opening practice makes you become softer, more balanced and joyful.
