Tantra Yoga

The word Tantra Yoga means, “to weave or expand” and refers to a technique that is used to go beyond. The concept of Tantra is to release the compulsiveness of the body and mind and to remove us from our trapped limitations.
Tantra is about building our energies to the uppermost dimension of the energy system so that your energies literally spills from the top.

Your Tantra Yoga Practice

Tantra Yoga is a practice used to build up energy, like a storehouse and allow you to tap into your consciousness without the obsessive use of asanas.

Tantric practices in the West have definitely conjured up thoughts of nudity and sexuality, but in all fairness, this practice is the ultimate expression of connectedness and higher power. It is truly the practice of connecting with yourself and perhaps even getting a glimpse of a deeper connection with your partner.

What is Tantra Yoga?

According to Rod Stryker, one of the most renowned teachers of Tantra yoga, the goal of Tantra Yoga is three-fold: to thrive, to prosper and to bring the spiritual world and the material world together in harmony. Tantra yoga practitioners seek to comprehend the continual play between these principles.

Tantra yoga originates from a worship of the Hindu deities that represent the dynamic and static principles of the universe: Shakti (dynamic, creative, feminine) and Shiva (static, destructive, masculine). There are many myths and preconceived perceptions that are associated with Tantra Yoga teachings, but in fact, Tantra is deeply rooted in Indian and Tibetan yoga teachings and is fundamental to the necessity of human connection.

Similar to some of the other 8 Forms of Yoga, Tantra Yoga blends elements of Raja, Bhakti, Karma, Kundalini, and Hatha practices.

Information about Tantra Yoga Teacher Trainings

In a tantric yoga teacher training, you and your group will be working together creating a space in which you can truly connect with yourself—mind, body, and spirit.

Your certified teacher will lead you into a yogic state and will guide you into a posture using proper alignment and form. The goal of Tantra is to honor the abilities of each practitioner to choose what is best for them, making it a wonderful lineage to be practiced by all ages and body types.

By taking part in a Tantra Yoga Teacher training you will be given the tools needed to be successful when sharing this practice with others. Most programs feature lectures covering psychology and sociology, which is necessary for teachers to understand their student’s growth in relevance to Tantra Yoga.
